Cool Halloween Graphics Set: Handmade By Me!

Posted by Tracy On October - 24 - 2008

Halloween is such an awesome time. I absolutely LOVE it. Everyone gets some sweet treats for free. Both grown ups and kids have loads of fun. And we all get to be someone we’re not for one night.

The holiday inspires me. Especially with creating. Just take a look at that cute little shiny pumpkin over there. I made that, and 13 more super cute graphics. Of course I’m still learning to sharpen my drawing skills, but I think these turned out really really good.

You be the judge and take a quick look at what I made this year:

The above weren’t terribly difficult to create, just took a little time and tweaking, but I had fun doing them. And isn’t that what designing is all about? Having fun? I think it is.

I even decided to sell the above package to my subscribers with Private Label Rights for a super scary low price. I mean, it is only about a week until the big “haunt”. Plus I threw in a couple of extra graphics sets too. If you are interested in this package, and I have any left ( I set a limit of 50 total packs to be sold with PLR ), then shoot me a message and I’ll let you know how much my subscribers paid and if you can pick one up.

Worst case scenario these can be used for next Halloween ;-)

I can’t wait for the next installment of graphics. They’re going to be geared towards Christmas. My other favorite holiday. And they’re going to be even better!

Because, the more we practice, the more we improve our skills.

And, depending on how well the Christmas collection goes over, I may just do even more for other holidays like Easter, Thanksgiving, St. Patrick’s Day, Valentines Day, and a couple others. We shall see. At least I’ll have fun creating!

Share with me what you’ve been up to or creating. I’d love to see and hear from you.

Free Resource: Pixels & Ice Cream??

Posted by Tracy On September - 19 - 2008

Ah yes. Is there anything better than a nice big, FREE heaping bowl of your favorite ice cream? How about with pixels on the side? What???! “Pixels and Ice Cream“? Yep. That’s the name of a terrific website that offers free photoshop brushes and patters, some of which include wonderful seamless tiling backgrounds, that you can use both personally and commercially. Plus some other cool free stuff.

And that’s something I’m always on the hunt for.

While the site doesn’t have an over abundance of free-to-use resources, it does have some pretty good ones available for download. Many of those are more geared towards the “girly” end user. But, hey, I AM a girl, so I like it. And I’ve included it here for you as yet another terrific free graphical resource to add to yours.

I’m interested to see how this site grows over time. And what other fabulous freebies they come up with next!

Visit Pixels & Ice Cream Here to peruse through their “menu” of free goodies. You may just find something delectible to enhance your tasty designs there.

Don’t Scrapbook? So What!!

Posted by Tracy On May - 30 - 2008

Even if you DON’T scrapbook, you can get some awesome design elements that can be used commercially from quite a few “digital scrapbooking” websites. And many of them at really affordable prices for the packages.

I’ve actually found some pretty cool brushes, actionscripts, styles, and shapes all from, you guessed it, scrapbooking websites!

It really doesn’t matter if you don’t scrapbook, or if your ebook has nothing to do with the scrapbooking hobby, you can still get some brilliant stuff to add to your ebook templates for low cost.

And, with that said, here’s a list of the best places I’ve found:

Scrappin’ Freestyle
there’s better than 1000 different “commercial use” photoshop actionscripts, styles, shapes, and brushes here. a great resource.

DigiScrap Warehouse
another outstanding site that has plenty of “commercial use” photoshop styles, shapes, brushes, and more

Sophia Sarducci’s Warehouse
some really cool stuff here that can be used commercially in your ebook designs

Groovy Scraps
yep, another digital scrapbooking site where you can pick up some pretty cool commercial use PS elements like brushes, shapes, etc.

Eclectic Digital Designs
more digital scrapbook commercial licensed goodies

Hawksmont Universe
this dude is the coolest! he offers a nice selection of photoshop brushes that you can use commercially including beautiful flower sets, among others. this is one site you seriously need to bookmark!

I’m sure that if you use your imagination, you can come up with some pretty cool ebook template designs.

Now, get out there and get to work creating something beautiful!

I found another great resource where anyone can pick up terrific looking brushes, custom shapes, patterns, styles, gradients, etc., for super low cost.

And use them all commercially, which is always a great thing ;-)

So, anyway, the site is called www.GrahpicXtras.com and I’ve been thus far digging through the custom shapes, which look pretty promising. They have shape packages made up of clouds, circles, spirals, dots -n- dashes, faces, embellishments, sketchy, stars, and a whole bunch of others.

I’ll be going through the brushes section next to see what they’ve got.

Average cost for 1 set of custom shapes: $9.00 US

Average value of having such a resource: PRICELESS

And, here’s another terrific, and FREE, site for collecting some custom shapes for Photoshop:

LadyOak.com

Lots of free to download custom shapes that can be very useful and the site states you can use them in commercial designs, so there ya go!

You will have to register for an account there, but, again it’s free.

There you have it. 2 new resources for great commercial use elements for your ebook template designs with Photoshop!

Awesome Photoshop Brushes That CAN Be Used Commercially

Posted by Tracy On May - 17 - 2008

Don’t ya just hate it when you find a really cool PS brush only to find out you can’t use it inside your commercial designs?

Well, I found a lovely lady who is selling her awesome brush sets that you CAN use commercially. And the price is just right.

At $9.99 per brush set, and they are beautiful brushes, you can snatch up terrific vector style brush sets for use in Photoshop 7, CS, and CS2.

She also has some cool freebie brushes you can play around with and see if you like them before buying too.

Check out her site, I’m certain I’ve made mention of it before, but you really should go check it out.

You can find her works both free and paid commercial at www.graphics-illustrations.com.

Amazing Photoshop Tutorials - FREE!

Posted by Tracy On April - 20 - 2008

Last night, I was searching for a simple online tutorial that would show me how to create a carbon fiber background that would seamlessly tile.

I Googled it up and found an unbelievable source with plenty of tutorials called PhotoshopTower.com, including a carbon fiber background tut.

I first thought, when I saw the tutorial, “Wow, this is gonna take me forever to do!”

But, to my pleasant surprise, it took me about 5 minutes — give or take, as I had to go back and forth to complete the steps.

The point is, IT WAS SOOOOO EASY!!

I was flabbergasted.

It was so simple, I thought, well, I’ll check out another tutorial then. So, I happened across a chrome tutorial.

Guess what?

It was just as easy to follow as the first one!

And the outcome, OUTSTANDING!

Turns out, by following the tutorials, you get the exact same effects.

Oh, and by the way, I have Photoshop 7, and the graphics turned out just as good as they looked on the website where the tutorials were listed.

Best of all, every one of them are 100% FREE.

You can’t get much better than that.

So, my advice, if you need to brush up on your PS tricks, then bookmark PhotoshopTower.com. It’s one resource I, for one, won’t ever be without again!
